I [heart] graphs

I know, I know. More graph stuff - yawn. I think this is quite interesting though, and I'm glad I went through my graphs in more detail (again).

I was on Mikogo with Noel the other day looking through Pokertracker when he brought up a graph of his whole year in BBs rather than dollars. It looked really cool as it really highlighted exactly how the year had been going for him. I went and did this for myself and was pleasantly surprised to see it looking pretty nice despite feeling like I was having a horrible time recently. Here it is underneath, along with my $$$ one above it (I am missing March's hands still):

They look fairly similar at first glance, but there are a few important things here. Firstly, in the $ one I've been pretty much breakeven for the last 130k hands. Now this isn't quite truw as I won a little in March, but compare it to the BB one and you can see why this is significant. In the same 130k hands on the BB graph I've turned a profit. I think this shows that, although monetary-wise it's felt crap (because I've done worse at at higher limits), poker-wise I shouldn't be as despondant as I have been.

Secondly, the later parts of the graphs look significantly different to me. I decided to check out graphs for the last 60k hands I've played:

They're both pretty depressing, but you can see how huge a difference the two graphs have. On the $ graph I'm below zero, and on the BB graph I'm above zero. This basically means that the last month and a bit has felt a lot worse than it's actually been (although it still hasn't been anywhere near good).

I don't think these graphs are going to tell me anything about my game, or if I'm playing well or not. But they have given me a better idea of how things have been going in terms of BBs, rather than money. The overall year one has also made me realise that, in the grand scheme of things, my current downswing is really only a small blip in a large overall upwards trend.

Take a look at your own BB graph for a significant number of hands - it's interesting!

I think the difference in graphs is important to note as the $$ graph can be a bit skewed b/c you've been jumping between levels. Therefore the BB graph is probably a better representation of your recent form.
